KT 09.002 Sahara sand

A venerable classic made with the splendid ochres of France.

Referenz - Kitzinger color sampler, ca. 1910

Farbfunktion - materialization

Wirksamkeit - good under all lighting conditions

The muted raw ochre with the trade name Sahara can be processed to produce paints of exceptional elegance. They are richer in clay and more shadowed than other ochres, most of which tend to be quite yellow. Since they unite the characteristics of yellow ochres and raw umbers, paints made with Sahara look reserved and elegant. This hue is made by lightening pure Sahara pigment with Champagne chalk. Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret used a similar color for the library shelves in the Villa La Roche, combining it with dark umber and sky blue.

"Their colors are just unbelievably beautiful, whether the sun is shining, or it's rainy weather, or night, with every play of light they look different again. Incredible."
