KT 32.029 Lapis lazuli white

A glistening white, as innocent as the snow that fell last night.

In Latin, lapis means “stone”; lazuli stems from the Persian word lazuward, which means “sky blue.” Thus lapis lazuli simply means “sky blue stone.” For a long time, this was the sole source of lightfast blue pigments and gemstones, and the semiprecious stone was traded at a higher price than gold. Small amounts of it suffice to produce a radiant white that defies linguistic description. This white, manufactured with ground lapis lazuli from Afghanistan, is spacious, fresh, and optimistic.

"Their colors are just unbelievably beautiful, whether the sun is shining, or it's rainy weather, or night, with every play of light they look different again. Incredible."
