Kaolin (Chinese for “high chain of mountains”) is an aluminum silicate compound; it is also called China clay, potter’s clay, porcelain earth, and, in old books on painting, silicate white. Kaolin is mainly used as a raw material for ceramic and ultramarine production, but it is also the source of a pure white pigment that is whiter than any other. In this formulation, the high transparency of kaolin is countered by adding traces of other white pigments without compromising the unsurpassable clarity and purity of the China clay.

"Their colors are just unbelievably beautiful, whether the sun is shining, or it's rainy weather, or night, with every play of light they look different again. Incredible."
