KT 20.305 Nattier’s blue

A steely blue nuance with plenty of gray.

Referenz - Plastor, color sampler, 1930

Farbfunktion - materialization

Wirksamkeit - good under all lighting conditions

An impermeable, metallic quality characterizes this strongly grayed blue, making it a special case among the class of usually receding blue colors. The reference Nattier’s blue is based on was found on a color card from Le Corbusier’s estate. Jean-Marc Nattier, a French portrait painter, apparently used such a paint to depict the rich velvet of royal clothing. Le Corbusier used a similar shade for steel tubing. Nattier’s blue is too heavy to be used for a ceiling, but it can be used to impart a wall surface with weight and solidity.

"Their colors are just unbelievably beautiful, whether the sun is shining, or it's rainy weather, or night, with every play of light they look different again. Incredible."
