Efforts to rationalize the paint industry’s production methods displaced innumerable pigments from the increasingly large production facilities. A prominent example of this is the pigment ultramarine blue. Although once indispensable on every artists’ palette, it was tricky to use in automated productions lines and quickly replaced. Unjustifiably, because the breezy effect of this sky blue cannot be obtained with other pigments. Summer sky blue proves how remarkably light and elusive ultramarine can be.

"Their colors are just unbelievably beautiful, whether the sun is shining, or it's rainy weather, or night, with every play of light they look different again. Incredible."
