Derek Jarman wrote the following on the subject of red: “Red protects itself. No color is as territorial. It stakes a claim, is on the alert against the spectrum.” This is true for Garnet red, a color that lends a painted surface great presence and weight. The formulation includes both orange and blue pigments, allowing this red to fill a gap between bluish carmines and brownish red ochres. This balance enables Garnet red to be remarkably adaptable to changing conditions of lighting.
