KT 09.003 Light Sahara sand

Richly colored French ochre blended with the creamiest chalk.

Referenz - Kitzinger color sampler, ca. 1910

Farbfunktion - materialization

Wirksamkeit - good under all lighting conditions

This color is the lightest in a series made with a sand-colored natural pigment from the mountains in the Luberon region in France. The ochres are assigned to groups based on their composition. Rich ochres have a high share of clay, lean ochres a high share of chalk, and sandy ochres a high share of quartz. This sandy pigment is composed of limonite, manganese oxide, quartz and other silicate-rich compounds. The quartz, particles give it a reflective surface that lends paints a charming sparkle. These attributes are characteristic of this color and make it a classic both indoor and outdoor applications.
