Steely gray is at the junction between gray and blue. Its pigments are sensitive to the surroundings, which means that light colors next to this gray will look even brighter, warm colors will seem to be even richer, and soft ones will look even gentler. Steely gray is like a chameleon: its achromatic appearance under warm lighting shifts to a metallic, blue shade in cooler lighting. Woodwork gleams like gold against such a backdrop, and whites look even brighter and sharper by contrast.
