KT 43.5 Ivory black

Profoundly deep: the blackest black in nature.

Referenz - Le Corbusier, Salubra wallpaper, 1959

Farbfunktion - differentiation

Wirksamkeit - good under all lighting conditions

“Black was a sacred color for the Abstract Expressionists, it was their lapis lazuli; they made a mystique of it, partly perhaps because of its austerity, partly perhaps because there was something macho in being able to produce a good strong black.” The black they celebrated was, in fact, ivory black, the black also preferred by Rembrandt, Manet and Le Corbusier. The pigment is made by charring animal bones, and it is extraordinarily fine. The astonishingly deep colors made with it look rich, like jet-black velvet.

"Their colors are just unbelievably beautiful, whether the sun is shining, or it's rainy weather, or night, with every play of light they look different again. Incredible."
