NCS S 0500-N refers to a widespread, almost neutral white tinted with black. The shade is useful, but we were displeased by the glaring, flat appearance introduced by the synthetic pigments titanium white and carbon black typically used to mix the paint. This formulation however, which relies on ground marble and a touch of slate, was utterly convincing. The German slate is not simply gray, it contains traces of amber, while the fine white marble contains lightly colored, natural inclusions. The result is as strong and clear as ground stones can be.
