A warm, fair white with a touch of red, at its best with very dark wood.

The addition of small amounts of chestnut-colored burnt umber to China clay produces this white, with its gentle tinge of red. This color combination can be found in magnolias, whose dark brown branches sprout blossom after blossom in the spring. The branches nourish the buds and keep them alive throughout the winter, and in spring, they turn into a blushing white wonder. This color develops its finest effect with nearly black wood or stone floors, analogous to the delicately white blossoms that sprout out of the dark magnolia branches.
